Results from a variety of studies have
been used to support the simulator. A key study involved was
a large multi-centric study conducted in Australia. Other
studies utilised were conducted in Australia, NZ and around
the world. These studies prove that there are potential economic
benefits from treating dairy cows at or around calving.
The key Australian study was the third
largest of it's kind undertaken. It demonstrated that usage
of IVOMEC EPRINEX at or around
calving can result in an increase of 63L of milk per cow over
a full lactation. In addition, another supportive study has
been published in the NZ Veterinary Journal. Such details
provide testament to the depth and quality of the trial work
supporting this simulator.
Using the simulator you can calculate
the potential economic benefit of treating Dairy Cows at or
around calving with IVOMEC EPRINEX.
All you need to do is insert your relevant data below and
then click on the Recalculate Profit button.
A number of assumptions have been utilised
to make this simulator as user-friendly as possible. These
include figures relating to product price, yields during various
stages of lactation and timing of dosing.
For a more detailed appraisal of how
you can achieve productivity benefits such as those described
in this simulator we recommend that you contact Merial Australia by viewing our Contact Us page.
The potential returns above include
the following:
The potential profit available
is due both to an increase in milk output per day per cow
as well as to an increase in the number of days extra milking
possible due to the cows getting in calf quicker. As an example,
the Australian studies referred to above demonstrated that
each cow could produce an average of 63L extra milk and potentially
milk an extra 4.8 days as a result of the treatments given,
leading up to and around the time of calving.
To calculate the final additional
income figure these two sources of benefits are combined with
certain assumptions and the figures that are provided above
by you. It must be noted that improvements in milk fat and
protein are not included in the calculations, despite being
significantly increased in those studies conducted that assessed
the changes in fat and protein levels following IVOMEC EPRINEX administration.
Note: Financial figures depicted within
the simulator refer to potential profit and are indicative
only. They describe typical potential returns for an average
property paying an average price for IVOMEC EPRINEX and are based on trial data generated
from effective treatment at or around calving.
