What can I use to control worms and liver fluke in my beef cattle?

  Q. Does IVOMEC® EPRINEX® and IVOMEC® Pour-On control lice?
  A. Yes. Both products control sucking and biting lice. A key issue with lice control is ensuring that a product has a persistent action in preventing reinfection. The life-cycle of lice occurs completely on the cow and includes the laying of eggs, which can take weeks to hatch. If the product has disappeared or is reduced in it's efficacy by the time the eggs hatch, reinfection can occur. IVOMEC Pour-On leads the way in persistent effect against lice, with proven efficacy up to 56 days after application..

  Q. Does IVOMEC Pour-On control buffalo fly?
  A. Yes. IVOMEC Pour-On controls buffalo fly for up to 21 days after treatment. IVOMEC Pour-On has an enviable reputation against ectoparasites of cattle, with this claim for buffalo fly being part of an extensive claim for external parasites (including a 56 day persistence claim for lice).

  Q. When is the best time to use IVOMEC EPRINEX, IVOMEC Plus, IVOMEC Pour-On andIVOMEC Injection in my herd?
  A. Field trials have shown that each product can offer productivity gains for Australian cattle producers1. These gains can be realised with Merial products regardless of whether your concern is worms, fluke or ectoparasites such as lice. The IVOMEC range provides flexibility and complete efficacy to enable a quality strategy to be devised for your conditions. Given that variation in rainfall, seasonal conditions and enterprises will influence the strategy required it is impossible to be specific here. For a customised treatment program please contact your local veterinarian or local Merial Territory Manager.

  Q. Are IVOMEC EPRINEX, IVOMEC Plus, IVOMEC Pour-On and IVOMEC Injection safe to use on young calves?
  A. Studies have demonstrated a wide margin of safety in all ages of beef and dairy cattle. As an example of the safety profile of IVOMEC products calves as young as 8 weeks of age have been administered up to 5 times the recommended dose of IVOMEC EPRINEX1. As part of the study, these calves were readministered the larger doses 3 times at 7 day intervals. This level of scrutiny ensures that IVOMEC products can be used with a high level of confidence.

  Q. What is the Meat Withholding period and the Export Slaughter Interval for IVOMEC EPRINEX?
  A. IVOMEC EPRINEX has a zero Meat Withholding period and a zero Export Slaughter interval.

  Q. What can I use to control worms and liver fluke in my beef cattle?
  A. IVOMEC Plus controls roundworms, adult liver fluke and sucking lice in dairy and beef beef cattle.

Dairy producers need a product that gives a thorough control of worms, lice and fluke with a flexibility to enable a strategic and effective approach to controlling these parasites. Relying on a dry off period drench 1-2 times a year is often not enough to control parasites nor is it enough to break the life-cycle of parasites such as Fluke. IVOMEC Plus has a nil milk WHP so can be used throughout the year. It combines this with a complete efficacy spectrum against worms, fluke and ectoparasites such as lice. IVOMEC Plus is not just a dairy product though. Millions of beef cattle are grazed in fluke infested areas.

IVOMEC Plus is the only product that enables a worm, fluke and ectoparasite control to be achieved with the one product. The only other option a farmer has in fluke infested areas is to use two or more products or to use less broad-spectrum oral products, which have limited persistence and limited if any ectoparasite claims. IVOMEC Plus is also convenient to use.
