Merial Australia Pty Ltd (owned by Merck & Co., Inc and the sanofi-aventis group) was formed in 1997 from the joint venture of MSD AgVet and Rhône Mérieux. Merial is a research driven company dedicated to the discovery, development, manufacture and delivery of innovative pharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to enhance the health, well-being and performance of all animal species.

Merial Australia operates with 75 staff and is based in Parramatta, NSW. The operations of Merial Australia Pty Ltd are divided into two business units: production animal and companion animal. Each business unit has its own dedicated marketing, sales and technical personnel, in addition to the support of the Regulatory, Research & Development, Finance and Customer Service teams.

Merial Australia is the market leader, our key products being the IVOMEC^® range for sheep, cattle, and swine plus EQUIMEC® for horses. Operating in a market of 1,750 vet clinics, 3 million dogs and 2 million cats, Merial companion animal products are distributed through veterinary wholesalers to veterinarians. Merials contribution to the sector is dominated by sales of HEARTGARD30®, the country's leading monthly heartworm preventative, and FRONTLINE® Plus, Australia's biggest selling vet-only flea and tick product.
